ARTISTS STATEMENT

I work from my art studio in the attic of my 16th century farmhouse, just outside Bungay. I love to paint both in the studio and en plein air.

Painting outdoors brings the atmosphere, texture, lighting and overall feeling of the scene to the painting, which I then complete back in the studio working from photographs for detail but retaining the essence of the picture. 

I also like to paint from my own photographs entirely in the studio, where the painting can be built slowly and accurately, although loosely enough to allow for life and movement.
